Furrhermore, rhe European Union a11d some member states including Greece keep the Armenian Quesrion alive fly ro put political and psychological press11re 011 Turkey to accept rhe Armenian rhesis and the European claims with its. However, they do urge Turkey 10 normalize its relations with Armenia. ![]() They also cite the Copenhagen criteria that the ca11didate co11111ries have to comply with. But they are taking into account to recognize it i11direct 111e11tion regarding the Armenian issue. ![]() In the light of the diplomatic relations, the European Commission which is the EU body responsible for carrying out 11egotiating talks with Turkey a11d the European Council, on the other hand, do not say directly any such thing. The European Parliament clearly with no diplomatic worry claims that Turkish recognition of the Armenia11 "genocide" is a precondition for Turkish membership in the E11ropea11 U11ion.
